Sin Is A Heavy Load

One who carries his sin along with him carries a load that is too heavy. Sin is such a heavy load that carrying it tires us out here on earth and is too heavy to carry to heaven. Carrying one*s sin to Heaven is impossible and lifting oneself out of his sin is like a little lad trying to lift himself off the ground by pulling upward on his bootstraps. Numerous times after I have heard people pray to receive Jesus the first words out of their mouths are something like this: I feel a hundred pounds lighter. or I feel like something heavy has been lifted off me.

Matthew 11:28-30: Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

He that taketh his own cares upon himself loads himself with an uneasy burden. The fear of what may come, expectation of what will come, desire of what will not come, and the inability to redress all these, must needs bring him continual torment. I will cast my cares upon God. He hath bidden me. They cannot hurt Him; He can redress them.

Psalms 55:22: Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

My sin was very burdensome to me before I received Jesus. As I was receiving Him, I was casting my burdens on Him. To this day, when I commit some sin and He reproves me of it I sense a heaviness. The heaviness is gone when He forgives the sin.

Hebrews 12:1b: . . . let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
